How The Process Works – Seasoning

We recommend purchasing “freshly cut” wood in late Spring. That way your firewood has all Summer to let the sun and breeze wick away any sap or moisture. By the time you’re ready to use the wood, it has become light weight and easy to light! This process is called seasoning.

Purchasing “cured” or “heat-treated” wood from your local firewood provider is strongly recommended. Cured wood speeds up the seasoning process for easy lighting & usage. Our covers work great for both fresh-cut and cured woods.
